DNA profiling, also known as DNA fingerprinting is a method used to determine the unique DNA characteristics of an individual which is important to establish the likelihood of a genealogical (biological family) relationship between two individuals examined, or among several individuals being examined. It relies on using DNA markers of your genome which are highly polymorphic in the population, and due to the high variable population frequencies of these DNA markers, it makes it possible for each person to have a unique DNA fingerprint with a combination of unique DNA marker profiles. In other words, each person has a unique DNA profile with the exception of identical twins who may possibly have almost identical DNA profiles. There are many applications of DNA profiling investigations that one can undertake to establish the likelihood of relationship between two individuals or among a cohort of individuals. 1) Paternity DNA testing: This CEN4GEN test is used to determine whether a male is a potential biological father of a child. We analyze 21 DNA markers thereby providing more than 99.99% accuracy for inclusion of paternity and 100% for exclusion of paternity in our analysis. Both Legal and Peace of Mind testing options are available.
2) Maternity DNA testing: This CEN4GEN test is used to determine whether a female is a potential biological mother of a child. We analyze 21 DNA markers thereby providing more than 99.99% accuracy for inclusion of maternity and 100% for exclusion of maternity in our analysis. Both Legal and Peace of Mind testing options are available.
3) Twin DNA testing: This CEN4GEN test is used to determine the zygosity of twins. In other words, this test provides you with an answer as to whether the twins are identical (monozygotic) or the twins are fraternal/non-identical (dizygotic). On rare occasions, dizygotic twins could arise from different fathers during the pregnancy conception. We analyze 21 DNA markers thereby providing more than 99.99% accuracy in our analysis. Peace of mind DNA testing is only available for the twin DNA testing option.
4) Siblingship DNA testing: This CEN4GEN test is used to determine whether two individuals or the cohort of individuals being examined are biological siblings (brothers and/or sisters), and furthermore whether they are half siblings or full siblings. We analyze 21 DNA markers thereby providing more than 99.99% accuracy for inclusion of siblingship and 100% for exclusion of siblingship in our analysis. Both Legal and Peace of Mind testing options are available.
5) Avuncular DNA testing: This CEN4GEN test is used to determine whether two individuals or the cohort of individuals being examined are the biological aunt or uncle of their niece(s) or nephew(s). We analyze 21 DNA markers thereby providing more than 99.99% accuracy for inclusion of an avuncular relationship and 100% for exclusion of avuncular relationship in our analysis. Both Legal and Peace of Mind testing options are available.
6) Grandparentage DNA testing: This CEN4GEN test is used to determine whether two individuals or the cohort of individuals being examined are biological grandchildren of the grandparents. We analyze 21 DNA markers thereby providing more than 99.99% accuracy for inclusion of a grandparentage relationship and 100% for exclusion of grandparentage relationship in our analysis. Both Legal and Peace of Mind testing options are available.
7) Y chromosome and mitochondrial DNA testing: The CEN4GEN Y chromosome DNA test is used to confirm a patrilineal/paternal lineage between two alleged male relatives. The CEN4GEN mitochondrial DNA test is used to confirm a matrilineal/maternal lineage between two alleged female relatives, and with an accuracy of 100% for exclusion of a patrilineal or matrilineal relationship with our analysis. Peace of mind DNA testing is only available for the mitochondrial DNA testing option. However, both Legal and Peace of Mind testing options are available for Y chromosome DNA testing.
8) Cousin DNA testing: This CEN4GEN test is used to determine whether two individuals or the cohort of individuals being examined are biological cousins. We analyze 21 DNA markers thereby providing more than 99.99% accuracy for inclusion of a cousin relationship and 100% for exclusion of cousin relationship in our analysis.
